Daily Madden: Madden Missed Exhilarating A's Comeback
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Both the Giants and A's have come back from a two game deficit to tie the best of five division series. The A's were down two runs in the bottom of the ninth before they scored three runs to shock the Tigers Wednesday night.
"I'll confess, I was watching that game in the last inning and I was reading," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "I thought it was over. I thought the A's would lose... I should know better. I should know what the A's did, and I should have been up on the edge of my seat...I was sitting back in my seat and I was reading something."
The A's play the fifth and deciding game Thursday night at the Coliseum.
The Giants play the Reds earlier Thursday, and Madden wondered what would happen in his grandson's Pleasanton classroom, where his teacher is the mother of Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford.
"She'll probably give them the day off," he said. "She can't be teaching long-division during the game." (7:20)
