Daily Madden: Letting The World Series Sweep Sink In
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - What a thrill for Giants fans: the team clinched its second championship in three years, winning Game 4 of the World Series in Detroit, 4-3. It's especially thrilling considering the Giants swept the Tigers this time around.
"The thing that's going to take a while to sink in, and I think even for the players, is the sweep," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew Monday. "You go into the World Series, a seven game series, best out of seven, and you have to win four and I don't think that anyone thinks that they're going to win the first four they play."
"I mean, you kind of think the Giants are going to win and you hope they're going to win and then you figure Detroit's going to win at least one there at home and then you know bring it back here and finish it up here in San Francisco," he continued. "And then they sweep and boom, it's all over."

In Kansas City, the Oakland Raiders got back on the winning track, forcing the Chiefs into four turnovers to help the Raiders win their sixth straight game at Arrowhead Stadium.
"To me they really looked good for the first time," Madden said.
"Yesterday, they did the things that a pretty good team does," he continued. "I mean, they were able to run the ball, they had pretty good protection, they got the turnovers, the things you do to win and their defense looked a little better, I mean, more consistent, doing the right things.
"So to me, yesterday was the first time that the Raiders looked pretty good this year."
