Daily Madden: Kaepernick Looks Fresh In Road Win
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick passed for 199 yards and ran for 63 more and a touchdown in leading San Francisco to a 31-17 road victory over the Titans Sunday.
"I think Colin Kaepernick really looked fresh," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "The big thing is the quarterback running. Frank Gore is a runner, we know that. But the addition of Kaepernick as a runner and every defense having to count for him... that takes away a defender."
In other NFL news, the Colts upset the Denver Broncos 39-33 in Indianapolis Sunday.
"I thought the Colts did a heck of a job, I thought (Colts QB) Andrew Luck did a heck of a job," Madden said. "The Colts defense, to be honest with you, really played better than I thought they were."
The Broncos defeat leaves the Kansas City Chiefs, who edged Houston 17-16 Sunday, as the NFL's only undefeated team. Are the Chiefs better than division rival Denver?
"If not, they're 1-A," Madden said. "They're pretty dog gone good. A lot of times we just look at the quarterback, and you say Peyton Manning-Alex Smith. Peyton Manning is better than Alex Smith. But when you take all of the other players? Kansas City's defense is really, really good. Their running back is really, really good. I would have to think that Denver is better than them, but I think they're very close to them." (6:10)
