Daily Madden: Jeremy Lin's NFL Counterpart
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - KCBS sports anchor Steve Bitker asked John Madden if anyone in NFL history compared to the come-out-of-nowhere success story of New York Knicks star Jeremy Lin, of Palo Alto.
"Sounds a lot like Kurt Warner," John said. "Went to a small college, didn't get drafted, tried out with teams, none of it worked. And then got an opportunity and led his team to a Super Bowl... (after) working at a grocery store as a clerk. That was a long road."
As the St. Louis Rams quarterback, Warner was the NFL MVP in 1999, and was named the MVP of Super Bowl XXXIV that same season.

Madden mentioned he had just been talking to Cleveland Browns President Mike Holmgren. The Browns are rumored to be interested in Baylor quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III, who could go as high as number two in the draft behind Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck.
"If you really want him...I think you're still going to have to move up," said the former Coach. "If you're Mike, even though the teams in front of you -- I think Minnesota is in front of him -- won't take him. I think you still have to take that bait and trade up to make sure that you're going to get him."
Madden said if the teams ahead of the Browns in the draft don't want a quarterback, they could trade their position to a team that does. (8:20)
