Daily Madden: It's Not Over Until It's Over
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The San Jose Sharks stunned the Los Angeles Kings with a 6-5 overtime victory after trailing by four goals in their NHL playoff game Tuesday night.
Madden told the KCBS morning crew that he normally doesn't watch hockey, but was able to catch the thrilling victory Tuesday night. As a fan he salutes the Sharks' never-say-die attitude.
"The intensity of those players... I really appreciated what they put into it and how hard they played," said Madden. "The intensity just built and built...that has to be the game that you play harder and faster than any other game. "
Madden said the Sharks showed that the best professional athletes know is no reason to give up the fight as long as the clock is on your side.
The NFL schedule was also released on Tuesday, but John said it's hard to get excited about the match-ups with the season in limbo due to the continuing dispute with players.
Both the Raiders and the 49ers have some prime-prime time matchups scheduled, assuming the games get played.
He said he feels bad for the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers, who he said didn't get the attention they deserved due to the post-season focus on the labor problem. (8:25)
