Daily Madden: It's Hard To Beat The 49ers-Seahawks Rivalry
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The Seahawks-49ers rivalry might just be the best in the country as the teams prepare for Sunday's NFC Championship game in Seattle. "They play every year, and they play every year two times, at home and home, and you develop history," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew.
"Sometimes you have these rivalries, but if you're not in the same division, you can only play one time a year. So when you get the combination of being in the same division, playing twice a year, and then you add the coaches and the Stanford-USC connection and the Harbaugh-Carroll, there's a lot of stuff there. But the biggest thing that is in the stuff is the fact that these are two really good teams."
Denver quarterback Peyton Manning's mention of Bud Light in a post-game interview is getting a lot of attention in an area known for Coors and craft brews. "There's a lot of free advertising," Madden said. "How about up in Seattle with Marshawn Lynch and the Skittles?... Skittles got a couple of million dollars of freebies there."
