Daily Madden: Intriguing X's And O's In Eagles-Seahawks Game
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Of all the NFL games this weekend, John Madden is most looking forward to the Eagles-Seahawks match-up in Philadelphia.
"That's one I'm really interested in, that's one I'm going to study," Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "The thing that interests me is Philadelphia's offense -- Chip Kelly and what he's doing. I've really never seen that, I've never broadcast that, I never coached against that, so I really want to understand that. The other thing is Seattle's defense. I'm intrigued by what they do and how they do it. So that's going to be a heck of a thing to watch, just from scheme and theory and those things."
Another premier match-up is Sunday's game between the 9-3 New England Patriots and the 8-4 San Diego Chargers.
"I can picture that one," Madden said. "Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, hoody, calling the play, Brady stepping up, ends going outside, giving them a clean middle, throwing the ball. I can see the other side doing the same thing. You know, trying to play action pass and get the ball deep, and get it to the tight end once they get in the red zone. I know what they do. I don't know what Chip Kelly does, but I think it's interesting as heck." (6:55)
