Daily Madden: Harbaugh's Stern Warning To 49ers Players
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- "Beware with whom you associate," San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh told his players as the team's minicamp ended Thursday.
"This is kind of a special month," John Madden told the KCBS Radio crew, noting players are now away from the team for four weeks. "This is the month from the time they're with their teams until they have to come back to training camp where historically some of them tend to get in trouble. That's a big thing. That's what Jim Harbaugh was talking to the 49ers about yesterday. Something about how you have to watch out for your friends and foes, and there are always a lot of foes out there."
49ers players have had several brushes with the law recently. "It's probably always been (a problem), but with all this social media, everyone has a camera, and wherever you are and whatever you're doing you can have a picture of it and then they can make a story up about it. It's really tough sometimes for these star athletes -- not just in football but in all sports -- it's really tough for them to go out anymore."
