Daily Madden: Harbaugh Deserves More Credit For 49ers Success
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The friction between 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh and General Manager Trent Baalke has raised questions about the value of Harbaugh's services.
"Jim Harbaugh has done a great job of coaching in the NFL no matter how you put it," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "Getting to three championship games in a row with that group or with any group is a heck of a thing that he's done."
The 49ers have not yet extended Harbaugh's contract, which expires at the end of the 2015 season.
"You tell me where they're going to get a guy that's any better than him?" John asked. "It's a lot easier to get a suit than it is to get a coach."
Madden said winning can breed discontent in the front office.
"Historically, they have trouble dishing out success. I've always felt there's plenty to go around for everyone... If you're in the middle of the pack or the bottom of the pack, they seem to work well together. Then as they rise up with success, not so much." (7:10)
