Daily Madden: Getting The Super Bowl Game Plan Ready
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The New York Giants and New England Patriots returned to the practice field Wednesday as they get ready for Sunday's Super Bowl.
John Madden told the KCBS morning crew that with a two week gap between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl, it's important to keep the players focused.
"The Giants got most of their (game plan) in, and probably the Patriots did too, last week," Madden said. "But I always felt that if you get everything in too soon, (and) you have the whole next week to go over it, then you get bored with it. I know when we went to the Super Bowl I took that first week and didn't put everything in, and saved some stuff for the week of the Super Bowl. To me that makes a little more sense."
NFC Pro Bowl quarterback Aaron Rodgers criticized the half-speed play in the game, saying some players embarrassed themselves.
"I felt the same thing," Madden said. "It wasn't football and it wasn't what it used to be... It wasn't only embarrassing to his NFC teammates, I thought it was embarrassing to everyone that played or coached or had anything to do with that game." (9:25)
