Daily Madden: Frozen Tundra Favors Packers
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Freezing temperatures are expected at Green Bay's Lambeau Field for the 49ers-Packers playoff game Sunday. John Madden said that's good news for the Packers. "You don't get used to cold," Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew.
"But it's like anything else, you get experience in doing it.... There is something to the experience of having played there, in that you kind of know what to expect, you don't have any surprises, and for the most part you know how to deal with it. Now you don't like it, and it's still cold, and it still hurts you like it hurts the other guy." Madden says he sympathizes with the fans at Lambeau.
"At least the players can move around, they're running in and out, they're hitting, the whole doggone thing. And the fans just have to sit there." Despite the forecast, the 49ers are early 2 1/2 point favorites to win the game.
Madden plans to watch Stanford play Ohio State in the Rose Bowl Wednesday. "(But) I think there are way too many bowl games," he said. "You don't even know what they are any more, or who they are... It's easy to say it's just a money grab, but it's just a money grab." (7:15)
