Daily Madden: Drew Brees Is At The Top Of The Game

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees threw for four touchdowns and ran for another as the Saints demolished the New York Giants 49-24 Monday night.

"There are a few quarterbacks in the league that can play in a game and look like they're perfect, and Drew Brees is one of those guys," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "The toughest position to play in the NFL is quarterback -- in fact, I think that could be the toughest position in any sport -- and then when you see a guy play it perfectly, it's just amazing to me."

John said Brees' success is a result of hard work on and off the field.

"These guys learn the game plan, learn the offense, the defense, the players," Madden said, also mentioning the play of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers. "You get the feeling that when they go into the game, they know as much about the game plan as the coach does."

Meanwhile, at a Canadian Football League alumni event in Vancouver over the weekend, 73 year old former Cal quarterback and coach Joe Kapp got into a fistfight with an old CFL nemesis, 74 year old Angelo Mosca.

John Madden said he wasn't surprised.

"Joe Kapp is Joe Kapp," Madden said. "Joe Kapp has always been a scrapper. That's who Joe Kapp is." (8:30)
