Daily Madden: Detroit Lions Building A Winner
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Detroit Lions beat the Chicago Bears Monday night to go 5-0 for the first time since 1956. John Madden told the KCBS morning crew that the Lions are for real.
"They have the young quarterback. They have the great young receiver. They have defense," said Madden. "They still need some parts, but you can see that they are well on their way to being good for a long time.
The former coach said Calvin Johnson, who is on pace to break the single-season touchdown record is part of a new breed of receiver who can go up and get a jump ball.
"He is a perfect type of guy for that kind of football," said Madden.
Next week the Lions try to improve their record to 6-0 against the 49ers next Sunday.
