Daily Madden: Colts Looking Like A Playoff Team
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The Indianapolis Colts beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-10 Thursday night, as last year's worst-record team improved to 6-3. "You didn't expect them to jump back into the fray this quickly," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "They're starting to look like a playoff team."
Colts rookie QB Andrew Luck was 18 of 26 for 227 yards and two rushing touchdowns. "You knew that he was going to be a top NFL quarterback. But I didn't know that he would be this good this quickly."
Madden said he also was impressed with Luck's tackle of the ball carrier after he threw an interception. "In the history of the NFL there haven't been many quarterbacks who have done that."
The undefeated Atlanta Falcons meet the 3-5 Saints in New Orleans Sunday. "The Saints defense really isn't very good and Atlanta is solid in all areas," Madden said. But "I have a tendency to really not believe that Atlanta is the best team in the NFL... (Although) when you're the only undefeated team in the NFL, I guess somewhere you have to give that some respect."
