Daily Madden: Carr Proves The Raiders Don't Need To Keep Searching
OAKLAND (KCBS) - To John Madden, Sunday's game in Oakland was all about the rise of the Silver and Black, not the demise of the 49ers.
"It was a great day for the Raiders," Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "I really think that they turned the corner...They played an entire football game. They ran the ball a little. Carr was great, threw three touchdown passes. The pass protection was good. Their defense kind of smothered the 49ers. And they tackled well. They did things well. They just kind of put it all together."
The 49ers scored only three points in the second half, losing 24-13. What's wrong with the 49ers offense?
"To me, this one is all about the Raiders," Madden said. "The Raiders went out an whipped them. It's easy to (criticize) (49ers quarterback Colin) Kaepernick and the offense and all that, and they are struggling and they don't look like they have a lot of confidence on offense. But they do have a good defense."
Madden said it appears the Raiders have found a quarterback for the future.
"The big thing is that Derek Carr is a real deal," John said. "That takes a lot of pressure off an organization when you don't have to look for a quarterback anymore... You can just build your team. I mean you can get your offensive line, you can get your corners, you can get your defensive line. I mean you can get all those positions that you need and not worry about a quarterback. And to me that's one of the biggest things that the Raiders have going right now." (7:15)
