Daily Madden: Carolina Has A Shot In Seattle
SEATTLE (KCBS) - The Carolina Panthers, who won their division with a losing record, advanced in the playoffs with a 27-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals Saturday.
"You could kind of see that coming," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "Carolina was getting healthy again, and they were getting back and kind of peaking towards the end of the season. And Arizona had too many next men up. It's a quarterback league, and we know that, and (it's difficult) when you're playing with backup quarterbacks in a playoff game... You just could see that Arizona was just losing too many players and they weren't the same team."
Madden said he expects Carolina to give the Seahawks a fight in Seattle Saturday.
"(The Panthers) have pretty good defense. And then if you can keep the score close where you get into that fourth quarter and you just have to make a play or something, or get an officiating call or one of those things, (an upset) would be a possibility... I can't see the Seahawks scoring a lot of points on them. Now I can't see Carolina scoring a lot of points either." (7:25)
