Daily Madden: Can The Rams Adjust To Kaepernick?
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The 49ers are in St. Louis to play the Rams, one of the few teams that have played against this week's starting San Francisco quarterback, Colin Kaepernick. "You know how people always say that they don't have enough film on Kaepernick, that as they know what he does they're going to know him better? Well this is one of the teams that is going to know him better," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew.
"It was the St. Louis Rams game when Alex Smith got hurt, and Kaepernick came in and played that game. So the Rams not only have the film of the last two games (Kaepernick played), but they have their last game with Kaepernick kind of running the team... I think it's going to be interesting to see how the Rams play it."
The first 49ers-Rams game on November 11 ended in a 24-24 tie. How will the Rams defense prepare for the 49ers offense knowing Kaepernick is the quarterback? "You're more aware of the run, you know, that speed option," Madden said. "I think I'd be aware of him kind of moving around a little more and keeping a play alive and throwing deeper... I think they'll back off a little, and I think they'll have a little more depth in the alignment."
