Daily Madden: Can KC Stay Unbeaten?
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Kansas City Chiefs, the NFL's only unbeaten team, would seem to have an easy game at home Sunday facing the 3-4 Cleveland Browns.
"The thing about the poor Browns that is kind of scary is (that) their defense is really good," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew, noting that could keep them in the game. "(The Browns) have to be able to run and have to be able to get the ball out quickly... You can't get turnovers, you can't force things. You do have a good defense. Let your defense win the game for you."
Madden sees similarities between this season's Browns and last season's Chiefs.
"Last year the Chiefs had the worst record in the NFL. They only won two games, and they didn't have a quarterback. But they did have a good defense. They were building a team. They did have a pretty good offensive line. They did have a good running back. Then they get a good coach in Andy Reid, he brings in (quarterback) Alex Smith, and now they're the only undefeated team in pro football."
The Broncos are heavy favorites to beat the Washington Redskins in Denver Sunday, but Madden said it might be a closer game than most think.
"Washington has only won two games, but RG III (is) coming back and getting better," Madden said.
"Peyton (Manning) kind of got beat up Monday night and had a short week. And it's going to be interesting to see how he comes back." (6:30)
