Daily Madden: Butler's Success, Video Game Concussions
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - A number eight seed, Butler, will play for the championship in the final game of the NCAA basketball tournament for the second year in a row. John Madden told the KCBS morning crew Monday the team's success is a result not only of excellent coaching, but superb recruiting as well.
Will Butler coach Brad Stevens stay at Butler or take a head coaching job at a bigger school? Madden said despite a long-term contract at Butler, Stevens will probably move on at some point, as top money usually trumps other considerations. "He's too successful and too good to not have someone come and just offer him such a lucrative contract that he can't turn it down," said Madden.
Meanwhile, the new Madden NFL 12 video game is incorporating player concussions into the video game for the first time. Players determined to have suffered a concussion will be taken out of the game. "We've always said that 'if it's in the game, it's in the game' and so this is an opportunity now, I think, to get it in the game and get an awareness at a pretty young age that head injuries are serious," said Madden.
"If you do get a concussion ... tell someone about it, get checked, don't play until you go to a doctor." (8:40)
