Daily Madden: Brian Banks' Long Shot Opportunity
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Brian Banks, the man exonerated of rape and kidnapping charges after serving more than five years in prison, has been invited to the Seattle Seahawks minicamp next week.
Before he was convicted, Banks had been recruited out of high school by Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, then the USC coach. "It is a good story," John Madden said. "And like Pete Carroll said, it is a land of opportunity and you want to give someone a shot."
By all accounts it's a long shot. "Where it happened the most was (with) fighters," Madden said, "because they always seemed to have some kind of boxing program in the prisons." Banks was invited to the Seahawks minicamp after impressing coaches in a tryout Thursday. (7:35)
