Daily Madden: Boston Attack Shows Stadium Security Is Not Just A Nuisance
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Security at sporting events is being reviewed and in some cases expanded following the bombing at the Boston Marathon.
"We kind of forget and take (security measures) as a nuisance, and then you realize this isn't a nuisance," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "At all these (events) that are coming up, security and what people are going to have to go through are going to be a constant reminder of what happened in Boston."
Will attendance at big sporting events decrease?
"I would bet that it's just the opposite, just knowing Americans," Madden said. "The minute you let something like this terrorize you, where you stop doing things that are normal, that's the effect that -- whoever's doing it -- that's the effect they want. And I think it should be and I believe it will be the opposite... Next year at Boston, they'll have more people at the Boston Marathon than they had this year." (5:55)
