Daily Madden: Boring NCAA Final; Bay Area Hoops Hall Of Famers
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - In the NCAA Men's Basketball championship game Monday night, Butler shot a record low 19% from the floor in a 53-41 loss to Connecticut. In his daily chat with the KCBS morning crew, John Madden said it looked like good defense was stifling Butler in the first half, but toward the end of the game it was more like bad offense sunk the Bulldogs.
"Last night wasn't very fun," said Madden.
"At the end it was just a boring game for a championship ... doggone it, when you watch you kind of have to be honest with how you feel," he added.
As for Bay Area basketball, former Warriors guard and executive Chris Mullin and Stanford women's coach Tara VanDerveer have been named to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Madden said both are deserving of the honor, though it's bittersweet for VanDerveer because of her team's Final Four loss on Sunday. "When you lose that last one, it lives with you for a long time," said Madden. (8:35)
