Daily Madden: A's Getting The Attention They Deserve
OAKLAND (KCBS) - The Oakland A's hit three home runs Monday to beat the Detroit Tigers and take a 2-1 lead in the Division Series. They can advance to the American League Championship Series with a win Tuesday afternoon.
"The A's have been exciting all year," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "It was kind of a little under the radar. You know, that they're kind of the second group. You talk about the Giants and then 'oh, also the A's played and won last night...' This team is pretty dog gone good. And now they're showing who and what they are."
Rookie quarterback Geno Smith led the New York Jets to a 30-28 victory over the Atlanta Falcons Monday night.
"It used to be that a rookie quarterback wouldn't play until his third or fourth year," Madden said. "Now the way they are, they're drafted, they come in and have to play immediately."
Madden said the difference is the similar style of play at all levels.
"The high school football is a lot like the college and the college is a lot like the pro. So when a guy comes in now... he has eight years of experience." (7:00)
