Daily Madden: Another Surprising Close Call For The Seahawks
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Seahawks edged the winless Tampa Bay Bucs in Seattle 27-24 Sunday, the second game in a row to raise questions about just how good the 8-1 Seahawks are.
"If you watched Monday night's game -- Seattle against the Rams -- then you should have known it was a possibility," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew.
The Seahawks struggled to beat the 3-6 Rams in St. Louis a week ago.
"(You can say) 'They don't play as well on the road. They struggled against the Rams. The Rams were really aggressive. But now they'll be at home, now they'll get back on track to who they are and what they are.' Maybe who they are and what they are aren't what we think who they are and what they are."
The Miami Dolphins suspended guard Richie Incognito for misconduct following reports of harassment of teammate Jonathan Martin. Martin left the team last week to receive treatment for emotional issues. Madden said he's surprised the problem wasn't addressed earlier.
"That's where coaches come into play. That's a coach's job," Madden said. "You can't go around and not know what's going on... Until the story comes out and you know exactly what it was, you don't know how bad it was and how you should have known. But these teams have like 25 assistant coaches now, and they ought to know everything. Sometimes I think we think that players are more leaders on teams than they really are." (6:50)
