Daily Madden: Another College Star Leaves Early For The NBA
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Cal star Allen Crabbe announced he will forego his senior year to enter the NBA draft. "As an idealist, you don't like it," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew.
"You would like them to commit to college and you'd like every good athlete to be a good student and everyone who starts to finish and get a degree. And that's not reality.
"You start with the premise that every good high school athlete that can play college sports, is not necessarily a college student... It's not that (all) these kids are going to college and then quitting and not getting a degree. It's that they're going to college to try to go to the next level," said Madden.
Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez said he loves the team's new clubhouse and batting cage at Dodger Stadium. "I always thought that those things don't mean anything," Madden said. "I didn't like in the pros those fancy things. I think if they get too comfortable in their environment they don't want to leave to go play."
