Daily Madden: An Embarrassing Loss For The Sharks
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Sharks lost to the Vancouver Canucks 7-3 Wednesday night in a conference finals playoff game marked by multiple Sharks penalties and a lack of composure.
Sharks forward Ben Eagan was called for unsportsmanlike conduct after scoring a late meaningless goal and then taunting Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo.
"Part of it on one hand is frustration... and maybe you've been taking subtle taunting," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "There are not many excuses for it when you're a pro. Those are things that pros really shouldn't do."
The sharks are now in an 0-2 hole in the best of seven Western Confrence finals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Amid layoffs of front office staff among NFL teams during the lockout, the Oakland Raiders are reportedly telling employees they can keep working by selling season tickets.
Madden recalled selling season tickets himself as the coach of the Raiders in the '60s and '70s.
"At that time it made sense. Everything was cheaper... you could take the family," said Madden. "It's a different era and a different time, and I understand that, but there was a time when the Raiders were part of the community and the community was part of the team. To me, that's the way you sell it." (8:35)
