Daily Madden: After 5 Games, Denver Is NFL's Best
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Denver Broncos defense gave up 506 passing yards to Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, but remained undefeated with a 51-48 victory over Dallas Sunday.
"Right now, after five games, the Denver Broncos are the best team (in the NFL)," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "A big part of it is the Peyton Manning factor. They can run the ball, they have balance... I don't think it's close. But that's right now."
Did the Dallas Cowboys expose a Denver weakness on defense?
"I thought that the quarterbacks and their throwing were extraordinary," the former coach said. "I didn't think it was bad defense. Usually you can see that they didn't rush pass or they couldn't cover or they worked on someone. And to be honest, I didn't feel that way. I felt that it was just extraordinary quarterbacking and that included (Dallas QB) Tony Romo... I think the defenses just got tired of chasing the quarterbacks and chasing the receivers." (6:50)
