Daily Madden: A One-Dimensional Rodgers May Not Be Enough For Packers
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is nursing a calf injury as he prepares to meet the Cowboys in Sunday's NFC playoff game at Lambeau Field.
"I think the Cowboys have a real shot here," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "It sounds like, 'Dallas having to go into Green Bay, the weather, this is Green Bay weather, therefore (Green Bay) will win the game.' I think the big thing here is that injury to Aaron Rodgers. We know it's a calf injury, a tear or whatever. He'll be able to play. If he doesn't have to run or he doesn't have to make real quick moves, he'll be okay (and) he'll be able to get through the game. But that's one of his strengths too. You think of Aaron Rodgers, you think of him like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning as a drop back quarterback. He is that, but in addition to that he can move. He can get off a spot and move and throw, and he can run and pick up a first down.... That part of Rodgers' game is going to be taken away. And I think losing that part is enough for them to lose to the Cowboys."
In Sunday's AFC game, the Colts meet the Broncos in Denver.
"That's the Peyton Manning and (Andrew) Luck game, and Luck took over from Petyon and that whole thing," Madden said.
"There's a lot of talk about maybe Manning can't do it. (But) he has other tools. He has a running game now, his defense is better, they're playing in Denver. I think he's okay. And I think he's going to have a big game, and I think the Broncos are going to beat the Colts." (7:30)
