Daily Madden: 49ers Still Need Help At QB
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Veteran NFL QB Daunte Culpepper may sign a one year contract with the 49ers.
John Madden told the KCBS morning crew that won't be the end of the 49ers' search for help at the quarterback position.
"I think they have to keep looking... You can offer someone a one year contract, see what you have, and go on from there, but that's not going to be the (long-term) answer."
Other quarterbacks who could be available include Marc Bulger, Josh Johnson and Carson Palmer, who has said he'd like to be traded from Cincinnati.
"He's the best quarterback out there... If he were available, now you're talking, he'd be the guy."
Tennessee running back Chris Johnson is one of the highest paid players at his position, but is holding out for more.
"Running backs don't have the longevity that some other positions have," Madden said. "The window of you making your highest dollars is a very short window... He's something special, that guy." (7:40)
