Daily Madden: 49ers Getting Plenty Of Rest
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - With another World Series now in the record books, Bay Area sports fans can turn their undivided attention to football and basketball (but not hockey). Except this week, since one professional franchise is taking a bit of a break.
And, we're not just talking about a day or two off for the San Francisco 49ers.
Daily Madden:
"I think it's, because they have a bye, in the collective bargaining agreement on your bye week you have to give them four days off," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "No, they don't even have to come in. They don't even have to be in the state."
"And then I think Jim Harbaugh, in addition to the four, gave them two more. So during this bye period the 49ers are going to get six days off."
Any chance it could throw the team's rhythm off?
"This is one that, when the schedule came out, they knew that this was going to happen so you kind of plan your whole schedule around the bye and what you're going to do," said Madden. "And it's good, it's a good break and you know I think it kind of refreshes their bodies and refreshes their minds a little, too. And then it's when you get it. This is a very good time to get it. I mean, the 49ers just had a win, coming off a win, to have a good start, then you feel good during your bye, you get refreshed and you come back and you run."
One Bay Area team not looking so hot these days is the Cal Golden Bears, as Madden observes:
