Daily Madden: 49ers Build Confidence In Monday Night Rout
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The 49ers defense dominated the Washington offense in a 27-6 beat down Monday night.
"That was really good for the 49ers to run into a bad team," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "They needed to get their confidence back and to get well. Their defense was so dominant, and it looked like they were dominating with speed. The speed of their defense was so much faster than the speed of the Redskins offense."
After two losses in a row that left them three games behind Seattle in the NFC West, the 49ers needed a big win.
"You lose one and it's a terrible feeling, and you don't know if you're ever going to win another game," Madden said. "Then you lose the second game, and then you start to think, 'Can we get this thing back together?'"
49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick completed 15 of 24 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns.
"The 49ers needed a win, and they needed Kaepernick to be an important part of that, and they got those two things. Now they have to turn that into a roll against the Rams." (6:45)
