Curry Makes Sick Child's Dream Comes True
OAKLAND (CBS SF) – Sometimes all the attention and praise given to a sports superstar can warp their perspective. Then someone like little Brody Stephens comes along.
The 7-year-old Stephens is a basketball fanatic and Warriors fan. There are photos on social media of him dribbling a basketball while getting treatment for leukemia.
Recently, he received a bone marrow transplant. He's weak, but bravely attacks each day.
On Sunday, Brody's daily round of nurses, doctors, shots and treatment at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health had a very special addition.
Golden State Warrior superstar Steph Curry, in town to play the Indiana Pacers, made a stop at the hospital to hang with Brody for a bit.
"A situation like yesterday keeps everything in perspective about what we do for a living," he told a reporter. "To be able to spend that time with Brody yesterday and his family … He's spent 91 straight days in the hospital battling leukemia and all he does is support our team and myself…It's amazing to how what we do on the floor to be an inspiration to him to keep fighting."
Stephens gave Curry a Brody Strong bracelet that the Warriors sharpshooter, who has been in a recent slump, wore in the team's 120-83 win over the Pacers.
Curry was 6-for-11 from the field on the way to a 22-point night.
