CSU Bakersfield Hands San Jose State 1st Loss
BAKERSFIELD (AP) -- Stephon Carter scored 32 points and Donavan Bragg 20 as Cal State Bakersfield defeated San Jose State 82-77 Wednesday, handing the Spartans their first loss of the season.
San Jose State led 72-71 with 1:23 left in the game before the Roadrunners finished the game on an 11-5 run.
Carter was 13 for 20 from the field and 4 for 4 from the free throw line for Bakersfield (3-2). He had 18 points in the first half, when the Roadrunners built a 44-39 lead.
Adrian Oliver equaled his season average with 26 points for San Jose State (3-1), which was trying to start a season 4-0 for the first time since 1963. Justin Graham added 16 points for the Spartans, Wil Carter had 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Keith Shamburger had 11 points.
Rashad Savage had 11 points and 11 rebounds for Bakersfield.
