2-Alarm Fire Decimates Bay Point Apartment Complex
BAY POINT (CBS SF) -- Fire crews in the East Bay were able to control 2-alarm fire that destroyed an apartment complex in unincorporated Contra Costa County Friday afternoon, according to county fire officials.
A call came in shortly before 2 p.m. about a fire at a two-story apartment complex in the 1100 block of Shoreview Court, Fire Inspector Ryan Bain said.
Crews arrived to find that a fire had spread to four units of the building. None of the residents reportedly suffered injuries, Bain said.
Fire officials said an apartment complex is on fire and fully involved with flames coming through the roof of the building. Authorities said the fire had reached the second and third floors of the three-story building.
Fire companies were going into defensive mode to keep the fire from spreading, officials said.
Shortly after 3 p.m., the Contra Costa Fire Twitter account posted two photos that appeared to show that the crews had moved into mop-up mode. The images showed that the main part of the building had been gutted by the fire.
Bain expected crews to be at the scene for several more hours.
