Crews Battle Wildfire Northeast Of Chico
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) -- Fire officials said thunderstorms predicted for parts of Northern California are expected to bring strong winds but little rain as crews continue to battle a wildfire burning northeast of Chico.
A CalFire spokesman said the nearly 1,300 firefighters battling a fire in Tehama County are bracing for erratic winds expected to move into the area late Saturday afternoon and into the evening.
No homes have been burned in the blaze, but the fire is threatening ten unoccupied homes near the community of Butte Meadows, an area of summer homes about 30 miles northeast of Chico.
The blaze -- 20 percent contained after consuming more than ten square miles -- has been burning since Wednesday. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
