Crescent City Harbor Remains A Work In Progress
CRESCENT CITY (KCBS) – Bad weather has hampered temporary repairs to the boat docks that were destroyed by a tsunami wave in both Santa Cruz and Crescent City.
But as a portion of the facility reopens on Sunday in Santa Cruz, Crescent City Councilman Richard Enea said they have not been as fortunate.
"Weather's been a major factor all week in Crescent City," he said. "We've had over five inches of rain this past week."

The weather has hampered efforts to raise more than a dozen sunken ships.
"This is a massive operation. But you have to do one thing at a time. First you have to get the boats up. Then you have to clear the oil. Then you can check the sonar to see how much damage, if any, there is underneath," Enea said. "I'm hoping that underwater, the piers are sturdy."
Now the question is whether the federal government will help to pick up some of the multi-million dollar harbor repair bill.
Crescent City has long been known as a magnet for tsunamis. And the long-lasting effects could be even greater for the quiet town, which relies heavily on fishing and tourism as major sources of revenue.
