Injured Baby, Woman Left In Car After Man Crashes Into Hayward Utility Pole Then Flees On Foot
HAYWARD (CBS SF) -- A baby was abandoned in a car after the driver hit a utility pole in Hayward during a high speed chase Friday morning.
CHP officers tried to pull the 2004 Mazda over on Tennyson Road east of Interstate Highway 880 at about 1 a.m. because the car had false registration tags and the driver threw a lit cigarette out the window, CHP Officer Charles Lee said.
The driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene on foot and hasn't yet been apprehended, according to the CHP.
At least two passengers, a little girl and a woman were reported to have suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The power outage had over 100 Hayward homes and businesses in the dark.
