Contractor Shuts Down San Bruno Blast Victims' Rebuild Projects

SAN BRUNO (CBS/AP) - Some of the families affected by the deadly pipeline explosion in San Bruno last year are in limbo after the contractor working on their damaged homes shut down operations.

At least two families received an e-mail last week from Vanderbuilt Construction indicating the company was closing until June 6. Vanderbuilt also said it could shut down for good.

Andrew Stanley, whose family was among those to receive the e-mail, says he does not have enough money to hire another contractor to finish the work on his home.

Another affected homeowner said Vanderbuilt was on a list of authorized contractors she received from Pacific Gas and Electric Co. after the September blast.

PG&E says it will work with the homeowners who used Vanderbuilt.

Numerous messages for Vanderbuilt owner Mike Boshard were not

returned.
