Contra Costa Domestic Violence Safety Nets Combine Forces
Victims of child abuse and domestic violence in Contra Costa will now see a doubling of resources and assistance, as two large agencies have merged to help even more people in the county.
STAND! Against Domestic Violence, and the Family Stress Center, have 65 years of experience between them.
"We're casting a wider safety net and providing services to any families that have violence in the families, whether it be domestic violence, or child abuse," said STAND! CEO Gloria Sandoval. "Learning violent behavior early on in the family system leads to things like truancy, gangs, guns, substance abuse."

STAND! receives more than 1,100 crisis calls a year, while the Family Stress Center serves approximately 7,000 children and their families annually. Sandoval says there'll be no duplication of services in the newly combined organization.
