Contra Costa College Seeks Bond To Upgrade Aging Campus
SAN PABLO (KCBS) - Contra Costa College may ask voters in El Cerrito, Richmond and San Pablo to fund seismic upgrades and improvements in disability access.
The Hayward fault runs beneath several of the college's parking lots next to buildings built 45 years ago, said Tim Leong, a spokesman for the Contra Costa Community College District.
KCBS' Dave Padilla Reports:
"Our structure is 56 years old and some of the buildings are showing their age," Leong said.
The $97 million bond college district officials hope will appear on the June ballot could also eventually fund construction of a new science and education building.
The bond would last 25 years. Bond measures require a 55 percent majority to pass.
