ConsumerWatch: Costume Swaps Save Money, Limit Waste

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Halloween is almost here, and a group called Green America is encouraging families to swap costumes. The organization is sponsoring 150 costume exchanges across the country this weekend. Organizers said swapping saves money and keeps old costumes from ending up in a landfill.

Pottery painting store "Color Me Mine" in Alameda is holding its swap Saturday, October 12. Among the costume choices: M&M's, Elmo, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, and plenty of furry creatures.

Other swaps are taking place in Oakland, Palo Alto and San Jose.
