Construction Worker Crushed By Bulldozer Near Livermore
LIVERMORE (CBS SF) -- A man killed in a bulldozer accident on a wind farm outside of Livermore on Monday afternoon was identified by the Contra Costa County Coroner's Office Tuesday as 52-year-old Fred Perle Telford of Hilmar, Merced County.
Telford, a longtime bulldozer operator working for Minnesota-based Blattner Energy, Inc., was crushed when the bulldozer he was driving slipped down a steep embankment and ejected him from the cab, said Erika Monterroza, spokeswoman for the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health.
The accident happened at about 1:05 p.m. in the area of North Vasco Road, near the border of Alameda and Contra Costa counties, Alameda County fire Battalion Chief Rob Eaton said.
Telford was cutting a new road on the wind farm when the fatal incident occurred, Monterroza said.
Cal/OSHA opened an investigation into the death on Monday afternoon.
