Construction Crew Hits Gas Line In San Jose
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) --A third-party construction crew struck a gas line in San Jose Thursday afternoon, causing a gas leak, a PG&E spokeswoman said.
The underground gas line was hit as the crew used a backhoe on Orchard Parkway between West Plumeria Drive and West Trimble Road, PG&E spokeswoman Nicole Liebelt said.
A fire dispatcher said the call came in at 1:35 p.m.
Crews from PG&E are on scene conducting an investigation, Liebelt said.
Construction workers are encouraged to call 811 to learn the location of underground gas lines before carrying out any digging, she said.
