Parents Of Cupertino Teen Who Disappeared For 3 Days Describe Reunion With Missing Son

CUPERTINO (CBS SF) – The parents of a Cupertino teen who returned home after missing for more than three days this week released a statement Friday about their son's disappearance.

Jeff and Jill Sullivan said their 17-year-old son Connor returned home Thursday night as they were about to have dinner with friends and family, the meal happened to be their son's favorite pizza.

"We were standing in the kitchen talking before serving up the pizza, saying how much we wished Connor was here when we heard the front door being unlocked. We all looked at each other, and realized it could only have been one person unlocking the door; it had to be Connor," they said.

"Such a feeling of joy and happiness which we hope, under these circumstances, no parent ever has to go through," the parents said.

The parents went on to say that their son has "expressed the deepest sorrow and regret for his actions" and that they hope to figure out the reasons behind his disappearance. They also thanked the community for their support as they searched for their son.

According to police, Connor was last seen by his family around 7:00 a.m. Monday. After attending his first period class at Monta Vista High School, he did not show up for his other classes and track practice that day.

Authorities said he passed some time at the Fremont Open Older Space Reserve. He was also reportedly on campus while people were searching for him, sleeping under bleachers, ate from fruit trees and used port-a-potties. Connor reportedly said that school was stressful but it was not the reason why he ran away.
