Congresswoman Visits Nanosolar in SJ
SAN JOSE, Calif. (KCBS)- President Obama's top environmental advisor took a whirlwind tour of Silicon Valley's solar power companies.
The Congresswoman checked out Nanosolar to make sure millions of federal tax dollars are being used properly.
Nanosolar specializes in printing solar cells onto metal foil in a roll-to-roll printing press.
According to founder Brian Sager, "The nano of nanosolar are very small particles which allow us to very effectively and rapidly make the cells."
His special guests were clearly impressed with the cutting edge technology.
Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren touted Silicon Valley as the center for clean-tech innovation.
"Not only is it a green energy future, but it's jobs right here in America that can't be outsourced," said Lofgren.

Lofgren was joined by Nancy Sutley, President Obama's top environmental policy advisor, who wanted to find out how the government's stimulus money was being used by solar power companies.
"It's best to talk to the people who are actually using those tax incentives and using other federal programs," said Sutley.
Sutley argued those are the people who hear what is and isn't working in order to make improvements.
Nanosolar recently received nearly $44 million in tax incentives, which the company says are critical to continue growth.
