Condoleezza Rice, Charles Schwab, Steve Young, Yahoo!'s Marissa Mayer Join Dignitaries Advising San Francisco Bay Area Super Bowl Host Committee
SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) -- Super Bowl 50 is right around the corner, if you're the San Francisco Super Bowl Host Committee, responsible for transportation, venues, security, logistics, promotions, and most importantly sales and charity outreach, and the committee kicked off the countdown to Super Bowl L Thursday.
In a major break from tradition, the committee sought and received approval to call it "Super Bowl 50," instead of "Super Bowl L," fearing the single Roman numeral could be confusing, and the 50 just looks so iconic.
But the logo is nowhere near as iconic as the advisory group members backing the working committee. The roster reads like a who's who of Bay Area innovators.
From former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to Charles Schwab himself, former 49ers quarterback Steve Young, Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayor, and of course politicians like Willie Brown and Gary Gillmore, former mayor of host city Santa Clara, the group is connected to every business and group imaginable.
Host Committee CEO Keith Bruce is thrilled to have such strong support from Bay Area leaders, both in insight, and funding.
"We are benefiting from both the generosity and expertise of the Bay Area's business community; these companies are standing shoulder to shoulder with us to make sure the Bay Area shines," said Bruce. "We're right in the place we want to be a year after winning the bid, with $40 million in support to date."

With 25 cents from every dollar raised being donated to high-performing Bay Area non-profits in a gift that keeps on giving, businesses see this as part of a bigger play to create something special and lasting.
"We believe that Super Bowl 50 will have a tremendous positive impact on the region, boosting the local economy and providing lasting community benefit that will live on long after the game has been played," said Lloyd Dean, Chief Executive Officer and President for Dignity Health. "We're proud to join the community of Bay Area companies coming together in support of the Host Committee's efforts."
