Concord Teenager Jailed After Allegedly Stealing Teacher's Car
CONCORD (CBS SF) - A teenager was arrested by Concord police on Tuesday after he allegedly stole his teacher's car and then led officers on a foot chase through a local elementary school, a police corporal said.
The teen, a 17-year-old student at Diablo Community Day School on Mohr Lane, took his teacher's car at about 2 p.m., police Cpl. James Carroll said.
The teacher called police a short time after the theft, and officers found the teen driving the car nearby, he said.
When officers tried to stop him, the teen darted out of the car and ran into Woodside Elementary School, located at 761 San Simeon Drive, Carroll said.
He didn't shift the car into park before jumping out, and the empty vehicle crashed into a parked car, he said.
The elementary school was placed on lockdown for about 30 minutes as officers searched for the teenager. He was eventually found a few blocks from the school, Carroll said.
The teen was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run, evading police, and felony auto theft, he said.
