Concerned Citizens Report DUI Driver To Sausalito Police, Leading To Arrest

SAUSALITO (CBS SF) -- Calls from multiple concerned citizens in a Sausalito store parking lot led to police arresting a man for driving under the influence Wednesday afternoon, a police lieutenant said.

Officers responded at about 3:35 p.m. Wednesday to the parking lot of the Mollie Stone's market at 100 Harbor Drive after receiving several calls about a highly intoxicated man attempting to drive, Lt. Kurtis Skoog said.

When officers arrived, they found a Ford pickup truck turning from Harbor Drive onto Bridgeway and heading north, Skoog said.

The driver, 44-year-old Sausalito resident Stuart Hamlyn, was driving about 5 mph while straddling both lanes of northbound Bridgeway, according to Skoog.

Officers stopped Hamlyn on nearby Colma Street and conducted a number of field sobriety tests, all of which he failed, Skoog said.

Hamlyn was arrested on suspicion of DUI, his second such arrest in less than two weeks, according to police.

He has since been booked into Marin County Jail and is being held in lieu of $2,651 bail.
