Complaints Mount Against Living Conditions At San Jose Trailer Park
SAN JOSE (KCBS) – Residents of a trailer park, which has been called "the worst in San Jose," are fed up with what they said are unhealthy living conditions and complaints that have gone ignored for too long.
On Wednesday, tenants of the Western Trailer Park on Monterey Highway outlined a litany of complaints, including claims of raw sewage exposure, according to 9-year resident Christine Balekian.
KCBS' Mike Colgan Reports:
"Many trailers have this problem. It's the sewage line itself that needs fixing," she said. "If it's not one trailer having the problem, than it's another. All the system is connected."
But property manager Jose Herrera said the allegations are untrue.
"There is no raw sewage at all. There's no raw sewage. There's no proof of that," said Herrera. "We've had state inspectors come by and we had some violations on our part. We corrected all those violations. Now we're just dealing with tenant's violations, minor things. Other than that, everything on our part is 100 percent with code and safety standards."
Owner Ki Hyong Ellis and her family have owned the trailer park for more than 50 years.
