Community Corner: Feeding AIDS Patients From Sonoma To Africa
FORESTVILLE (KCBS) - A local Bay Area nonprofit, dedicated to serving those affected with AIDS, is raising funds to help AIDS orphans in Africa.
Food for Thought, a Sonoma County AIDS Food Bank, is hosting a benefit dinner on Sunday August 26th in Sebastopol to help children affected by AIDS in Namibia.
Ron Karp, Food For Thought's Executive Director, says they don't just funnel money to Africa but they share ideas and actually travel abroad to help establish gardens and supply vegetables to the children there.

Project Africa is a direct partnership the food bank has with The Hope Initiatives, a soup kitchen and school for AIDS Orphans & Vulnerable Children in Namibia.
Karp says it's more than food they provide to their clients both in Sonoma and Africa but an opportunity to learn how to grow food in their organic garden and also get nutrition counseling.
They are primarily a volunteer-based organization and there are always many volunteer opportunities available from collecting food donations and delivering groceries to helping out with fundraising events.
There will be a benefit dinner on Sunday, August 26th, 3pm at Peter Lowell's Restaurant in Sebastopol.
